Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) saluted the world’s premier R&B, rap and hip-hop songwriters, producers and music publishers at its annual Urban Awards. BMI President & CEO Del Bryant and Catherine Brewton, Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations, Atlanta, hosted the ceremony at Frederick P. Rose Hall in New York City. LOS Da Mystro won a 2009 BMI Top Urban Producer Award for being on an elite list of composers who logged the most producer credits on charting songs over the past year. Other winners include Kanye West, T-Pain, JR Rotem, Lil Wayne, T.I., Chris Brown and Young Jeezy. Universal Music Publishing earned its second consecutive BMI Urban Publisher of the year trophy. The night’s festivities concluded with the presentation of the BMI Icon Award to George Clinton. |

Yesterday in New York City, Procter & Gamble's Bounty brand announced its partnership with Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation by launching the Building Bounty-ful Bridges Program with Russell Simmons and the support of his celebrity friend, Mary J. Blige. On hand to kick off the program were students from PS 165, a school based in the Upper West Side of NY, which is a partner in Rush Philanthropic's "Gallery in the Schools" Program. Through Bounty's partnership with Rush Philanthropic, children across the country will be able to express their creativity by creating a large-scale collaborative painting that "bridges" them creatively with others across the country. This is in perfect sync with Bounty's mission to provide children with hands-on fun activities that nurture their creativity and curiosity.

SIRIUS XM Radio announced today that its SIRIUS XM Hits 1 and 20on20 channels will feature Green Day taking control for a weekend-long simulcast this weekend. Green Day received three MTV video music awards, including "Best Rock Video," at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards held at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, and the band and SIRIUS XM will celebrate their wins with a weekend-long special on its SIRIUS XM Hits 1 channel, SIRIUS channel 1, and 20on20, XM channel 20. The band will host a special edition of the SIRIUS XM Hits 1 Weekend Countdown! During the countdown, the entire band will introduce the forty-five most requested songs of the week and will share their views on the music.
