The Journal of Commerce to Provide Critical Information on Aug. 1, 2010 Air Cargo Screening Deadline PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 25 November 2009
The Journal of Commerce will broadcast a live webcast Thursday, December 10, 2009, on how shippers can best prepare to meet the Transportation Security Administration's Aug. 1, 2010, deadline for screening expedited shipments.

"Ready or Not - Preparing Your Supply Chain for the Air Cargo Screening Deadline" will be broadcast on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. EST and will offer a unique opportunity for shippers to hear from representatives from the Transportation Security Administration - the designers of the Certified Cargo Screening Program - and from leading companies with programs currently in place to keep their supply chains moving. A panel discussion will be followed by a question and answer period and the entire program will also be available online on demand immediately following broadcast.

Presenters will include Paul Page, Editorial Director, The Journal of Commerce (Moderator); Douglas Brittin, Air Cargo Manager, U.S. Transportation Security Administration; Tom Lewandowski, Senior Manager-Logistics Operations, Geodis Global Solutions; and Bradley Elrod, Senior Manager of Global Logistics Security, Pfizer. The event will be moderated by Paul Page, Editorial Director, The Journal of Commerce.

"The requirement to screen 100 percent of all cargo on passenger aircraft will present unprecedented challenges to companies of all sizes and that depend on the efficient movement of all kinds of goods. Shippers need to know what they can do to keep control of their supply chains, what their options are and what concrete steps they can take to keep ensure their business isn't caught up in someone else's security plans," said Page. "These important presentations from the TSA and best-in-class shippers will give them the tools they need to do that."

Critical questions to be answered include:

-- What will you need to do to keep your goods moving seamlessly and
without delay after the 100 percent air cargo screening deadline?
-- How will you choose whether to create your own certified screening
program or use providers that meet federal guidelines?
-- How do you create a Certified Cargo Screening Program that keeps goods
      moving?
