InFocus® Corp., the industry pioneer in digital projection technology,
today announced that it is a sponsor of the Portland Art Museum’s
upcoming exhibition, China Design Now. On view Oct. 10 through
Jan. 17, 2010, China Design Now is a multi-sensory experience
reflecting the new Chinese urban environment, capturing the scale, speed
and energy of change in China today. InFocus projectors loaned to the
museum for the exhibition will bring the art of architecture and design
in China to life, including an animated fly through of Beijing.
“InFocus projection technology is making a difference in the Portland
Art Museum’s ability to mount this important international exhibition,”
said Brian Ferriso, Portland Art Museum executive director. “InFocus’
high resolution digital projectors enable us to create unique and
visually compelling multimedia displays that bring art to life and allow
museum visitors to experience history and modern culture in new ways.”
Organized by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, China Design
Now is an international exhibition that reveals how designers,
architects, filmmakers and artists have transformed Chinese design.
Eleven InFocus projectors are used throughout the exhibit, which
leverages sound, video, lanterns, neon and scroll-like text panels to
help guide visitors through China’s dynamic culture and urban life.
At the beginning of the China Design Now exhibition is a
180-degree projected, animated fly through of Beijing. Four InFocus
projectors are used simultaneously to cast a 56-foot arc that flies
visitors from the Forbidden City to modern Beijing.
“InFocus is proud to partner with the Portland Art Museum for this
vibrant presentation of development in Chinese design,” said David
Woolf, VP of Marketing and Engineering at InFocus. “We’re thrilled to
see our projection technology bringing innovation and new depths of
experience to art in our local community.”
